Working draft, revised in public

Add to the record

This page has said since the day it was published that it is a draft, and that corrections and challenges are welcome. This is the mechanism behind that promise. Send a source, a correction, or a storyline the page missed — or argue with what is already there.

Not everything gets posted. Every submission is read by a person before it appears anywhere. Most will not run — usually not because they are wrong, but because someone made the same point earlier and better. That is editing, not censorship, and it is the same standard the rest of this page is held to.

If yours is not published you will be told. If you ask why, you will get an actual answer.

What runs, and what does not

Published

  • Disagreement. Critical and supportive are equally welcome. This page is a draft and expects to be wrong about things.
  • Sources, links and documents that add to, correct, or complicate the record.
  • Personal experience — named, specific, and your own.
  • Arguments aimed at a claim, however sharply written.

Not published

  • Abuse, slurs, threats, or anything aimed at a person rather than a claim. Not moderated down — not posted, and not tolerated.
  • A new factual allegation about a named person, with no source. This page sources every claim it makes. Comments are held to the same rule: argue with the facts here as hard as you like, but adding a new one means showing where it came from.
  • Anonymous or unverifiable submissions.
  • Campaign material or copy-pasted talking points, from any side.
  • Anything about a private individual who did not put themselves in this story.

    Who you are

Do not send government identification. No driver's licence, passport, Social Security number, or date of birth. We do not accept them, we will not open them, and they will be deleted.

If we need to confirm you are who you say you are, we will ask for something already public — a work page, a byline, an organisation listing.

Real name. Only your first name and last initial are ever published.

A first and last name, please.

Texas county where you are registered. Published with your name.

Pick a Texas county from the list, or leave it blank.

    You will appear as

    Reader

Never published, never shown to other readers, never sold or shared. Used to confirm the address and to reach you about your submission.

We need an address that works.

A work page, a byline, an organisation or precinct listing, a profile with history. This is what earns the Verified badge — and it is the only kind of identity check we do.
    Before you send

All three, please — they are the whole basis for publishing this.

You will get a confirmation email. Nothing is public until it is approved.
